Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay

Project Type: Recreational

Project Scope: Additions And Alterations

Completion: 2016

Designing to be invisible—that is the challenge for this project. Gardens by the Bay is now renowned and an established destination for locals and tourists alike. The increasing need to cater to growing activities and events spurred this work, involving the designing and building of several large utilitarian facilities within the Gardens, designed to be effective yet quietly hidden from and close to ‘The Meadows,’ a major outdoor event venue.
The utilitarian facilities include substations, generator rooms, and stores, all hidden under undulating green roofs designed to support future and potential events in the area. The rolling green roof forms part of an elevated landscape for an outdoor concert ground setting, allowing the crowd to experience the surroundings from higher levels while ensuring the continuity of greenery within the Gardens.
