House @ 34 Allamanda Grove

House @ 34 Allamanda Grove

Project Scope: Reconstruction

Completion: 2017

The three storey bungalow was redesigned and reconstructed with environmental consideration as key design driver. Firstly, as much of the original structure was retained and updated to minimise waste. The design then turned it’s focus on minimising heat gain while maximising natural ventilation throughout the house. A combination of strategically site windows, deep overhanging roof eaves, horizontal sun shades, operable and fixed screens cushions the impact of any direct afternoon sun into the house. The tall volume of the living room tapes into the staircase as a stacked ventilator, encouraging natural movement of air through all main spaces in the house. The environment is further moderated by the presence of water in the swimming pool, and surrounding lush landscaping.
