House @ 25A Dunbar Walk
Project Scope: Reconstruction
Completion: 2008
The two-storey semi-detached house is reconstructed to update it’s appearance, and add spaces and bring light deep into the interiors. The living room is surrounded by an external water moat while the internal spaces in the house are separated either by water or voids and are connected via bridges. A steel frame structure along the side of the house forms a new changeable layer on the facade and carries infill walls, windows, planters. A roof light brings natural light deep into the middle of the house and encourages cooling through stack-effect. The house is surrounded by plenty of greens and seeks to minimize its carbon footprint through a combination of passive design features as well as the use of active technology such as solar water heaters.
