National Council of Social Services
Project Scope: Additions and Alterations
Completion: 2021
The project involves 10 levels of workspace fitting out for the National Council of Social Services HQ at Ghim Moh Road. The design creates a positive work and interactive environment to balance everyday task-induced stresses by using a combination of breakout space planning, indoor greens, lighting, texture, colour, and even art walls contributed by communities that NCSS engages with.
A dynamic collaborative work environment allows office users to unplug from their fixed workstations and find opportunities to work in community pods, individual quiet rooms, or engage in planned social activities in the purpose-designed ‘NEST’ staff lounge at level 2.
Extensive changes were made to the interior spaces of the six conserved shophouses located within the Little India Conservation Area to convert the pre-war buildings into a luxurious boutique hotel. The design carved out 40 hotel rooms with complementary facilities such as a hotel bar, a whiskey library, a lounge, and a restaurant. The façade was sensitively and honestly restored, with the interior design injecting a sense of whimsical yet contemporary luxury befitting a classy boutique hotel.
