Externally, the building’s main façade is given a facelift with a clean silhouetted frame and a rhythmic pattern of infill terracotta fins.

The project comprises (1) a revamp of the hospital’s 1st-storey public spaces, consisting of a renewed patient service centre, retail and F&B spaces, a 24-hour family clinic, a specialist outpatient clinic, and an upgraded façade for the entire building. Externally, the building’s main façade is given a facelift with a clean silhouetted frame and a rhythmic pattern of infill terracotta fins.
Subtle façade lighting creates a soft lantern effect throughout the night. Internally, the necessity of keeping a clean and sterile medical environment sometimes conflicts with the desire for a warm and tactile ambience needed to balance the stresses of being in a hospital setting. The design creates a balance through careful layering of spaces, surfaces, and senses.
Spaces and surfaces are planned to be inherently efficient and crisp, over which a variety of elements are laid to both visually and sensually cushion the impact. Curved accents, textured surfaces, feature lighting, dynamic displays, and inviting furniture all work in unison to create a sometimes distracting, mostly reassuring experience that is distinctively ‘Thomson’. Great importance is placed on improving and ensuring accessibility and wellness throughout the updated spaces.
A hint of champagne-tinted glow is deployed throughout the spaces in the selective use of materials and lighting as a unifying signature that evokes passion and finesse in an industry that tends to prioritise haste and economy. This is the world-class experience that we crafted for Thomson Medical Centre.
